Homemade Pink Flamingo Cupcakes – Inspired Beach Themed Party

If you are anything like me, flamingos make you happy, too. I can’t explain it, and I don’t really know what it is about them that brings a smile to my face…I just know that I like the way they look, their bright and cheerful color, and the elegant way that they seem to carry themselves throughout their day. 

Do you know something else that I like as well? Cupcakes. It’s probably less of a mystery as to why I like cupcakes, right? Seriously…who doesn’t like cupcakes?! So, when the chance to create a recipe appeared in front of me that combined two things that I love? Consider me convinced and a HUGE fan of these Flamingo Cupcakes.

They are super fluffy, light with just right the texture, and that pink frosting is the perfect color for the upcoming summer months. Have an upcoming summer birthday or outdoor BBQ bash in the near future?

These cupcakes are perfect for those occasions and are sure to make quite a presence in their place on the table. But seriously, once you add that adorable flamingo topper to the top of the cupcake? They are a whole other level of greatness. Give this Flamingo Cupcake Recipe a try for yourself and I’m certain you’ll agree!

Ingredients to prepare the Flamingo Cupcakes:

  • 1/2 C. butter softened to room temperature
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 C. granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 C. milk
  • Pink cupcake liners
  • Disposable piping bag
  • Star frosting tip
  • Wilton Flamingo Icing decorations these are currently at Walmart
  • Pink gel food coloring
  • Toothpicks

Frosting Ingredients:

  • 3 C. powdered sugar
  • 1/3 C. butter softened to room temperature
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp. milk
  • Pink gel food coloring
  • 1 1/2 C. flour

How to Make Flamingo Cupcakes:

Step 1: Preheat the oven

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a 12 count muffin tin with cupcake liners. Combine the butter, eggs, sugar, baking powder and milk, mixing well. Fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with batter.

Step 2: Coloring food gel

Add 1-2 drops of pink gel food coloring to the remaining batter and add about 1 tablespoon of pink batter to the top of the white batter. Use a toothpick to gently swirl the pink batter into the white batter.

Step 3: Baking process

Bake 18-20 minutes. Insert a toothpick around 18 minutes. If it comes out clean, the cupcakes are done. Remove the Cupcakes from the oven and let cool completely.

Step 4: Attach the star

Combine the powdered sugar, butter, vanilla extract and milk. When the frosting reaches your desired consistency, add a few drops of the pink gel food coloring and stir to combine. Attach the star frosting tip to the disposable piping bag and fill with frosting. Gently squeeze the frosting out of the piping bag in a circular motion and frost each cupcake.

Repeat with remaining cupcakes. Give each cupcake 1 Flamingo icing
